Duties and accounting forms

Account books

Mainly commercial companies (partnerships and joint stock companies, including organizations) and civil partnerships are obliged to keep the account books. Natural persons, civil partnerships of natural persons, general partnership of natural persons as well as professional partnerships are obliged to keep the account books if their net revenue on the sell of goods, products and financial operations for the previous trading year amounted to a sum which in Polish currency is an equivalence of at least € 1,200.000.

On the other hand, when it comes to foreign persons, i.e. natural persons who do not hold Polish citizenship and legal persons with the seat abroad as well as branches and agencies of foreign entrepreneurs it is obligatory to keep the account book regardless the amount of turnover.

Simplified forms – revenue and expense ledger

Natural persons, civil partnerships of natural persons, general partnerships of natural persons and professional partnerships keep the register in a simplified form, a so-called revenue and expense ledger. This ledger can be kept until the limits that require the duty of keeping the account books are exceeded.
